What Is LiDAR?
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) uses laser pulses emitted from a drone to measure the earth’s surface. Millions of laser shots are sent toward the ground every second, and the time it takes for each pulse to return is used to calculate extremely precise 3D coordinates.
Unlike cameras, LiDAR penetrates vegetation, allowing it to capture the true ground surface beneath trees, brush, and tall grass.
